Hi Steve,

Thanks for the update. Has it been completely removed? Or is there still a Moodle instance lurking?

Rheinard,

We've discontinued DimDim on the medusa server (at least for now) but dimdim.com are finally offering a beta version hosted on their servers, free of charge. I tested it yesterday, seems to be stable but with considerable lag...

spreed.com.au is hosted here in Australia and may be better for conferencing (latency is low) - different pricing model to DimDim but worth considering.

'Open source' development is an interesting phenomenon. I think, at its core, is a different political and philosophical perspective.

Have you heard about the OScarproject and WikiEducator (Leigh Blackall spoke about this in his presentation at UB last November)?

Open courseware seems to be gaining in popularity since MIT introduced it a few years ago...

Great post!

A small correction: Twitterrific is indeed free. Twitterrific's development is funded by ads via The Deck and is not feature limited in any way. Registering the app simply removes the Deck ads from the tweet timeline for those who don't want to view them. Thanks for letting me clarify that point.

Thanks for the link Collette.

As part of our department one of our primary focuses is supporting teachers by providing them with training... so that they can then use the tools to provide training to students.

Maybe in a few months I'll have some examples to share with you :)

I am collecting examples of how educators are using Voicethread in their classroom or for professional development on a wiki at: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/

My plan is to share these examples with other technology teachers who provide professional development in their schools.

Feel free to add your own examples or links to resources. Thanks in advance,
Colette
