What is Moodle?

Moodle is the official Learning Management System at UB. It contains resources and activities that are relevant to your courses. Click the Login button on the University of Ballarat's homepage. There are two instances of Moodle at UB:

Why can't I login to Moodle?

Failure to login to Moodle is caused by either:

  • an incorrect password, or
  • an incorrect or unrecognised user ID.

The most common reason for login failures is an incorrect password. To reset your password, contact the myIT@UB Service Desk.

If you are sure your password is correct, use this checklist to help resolve the issue:

  1. Is your enrolment correct and complete, with all due fees paid?
  2. Have you allowed enough time for your enrolment information to be passed onto Moodle? This can take 24-48 hours from the completion of your enrolment and/or fee payment.

Can I login from anywhere?

Yes, you can login from any Internet connected computer. Although Moodle does not place too many requirements on the end-user's computer, you must have cookies enabled (most web browsers have this enabled by default). Some content may require additional plugins to work correctly on your computer. This may include a PDF reader, JAVA, Flash plugin, and some video and audio CODECs.

What support is available?

The myIT@UB Service Desk can only provide minimal assistance for Moodle related issues, such as password resets. In the first instance, you should:

  • use resources available on this website,
  • ask your lecturer or teacher for assistance, or
  • use the 'Moodle Support for Students' discussion forum available in Moodle. You can access this through the Support Link at the top of Moodle, under the UB logo.
